Dr Oliver Florica is an Australian Surgeon proficient in laparoscopic and robotic surgery in bariatrics, as well as complex lower and upper gastrointestinal procedures such as bowel cancer, diverticular disease, anti-reflux, hernia, and gallbladder.

Dr Florica’s expertise has been enhanced by additional years of training in surgical and orthopaedic trauma, plastic and reconstructive surgery, intensive care and advanced life support and resuscitation techniques in centres of excellence in South Africa and Australia. Over a period of ten years of training with six monthly rotations he has been awarded with assessments of excellence in his performance.

In 2002 Dr Florica became a Fellow of the Australian College of Surgeons and subsequently a Member of the Australian Obesity Surgery Society. His training however has never stopped and he continues to stay abreast of most modern surgical techniques. In 2008 and 2012, he was awarded a Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery from the University of Strasbourg, France.

Throughout his career, Dr Florica has participated in or performed thousands of various laparoscopic procedures. Currently his practice is focused on laparoscopic and robotic abdominal surgery, bariatric procedures and cosmetic body contouring after weight loss.

Dr Florica was one of the first surgeons in Australia to use the Da Vinci Robot in his field. He has performed multiple robotic bariatric and general surgery procedures and has been asked to proctor in robotic surgery.
