What first got you involved in Nursing?

In Sri Lanka I was a fashion designer working in the textile industry. When I moved to Australia, it was difficult to get a job in the textile/fashion industry. I realised I love helping people who are unwell, which lead me to do an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) training program. After doing AIN level nursing for 8 years, I wanted more so I enrolled at the University of Western Sydney (UWS) and completed Registered Nursing, and I haven’t looked back.

Which of our 5 Values best describes you and why?

Positive Energy: As a Registered Nurse I think that the value “Positive Energy” resonates well with me. In Hospital, the patients are here as they are not well. Albeit, physically unwell or mentally unwell. I believe part of my role is to bring a Positive Energy to my work every day.

What do you enjoy most about working at Brisbane Waters Private?

I completed my New Grad program at St John of God, a dedicated mental health hospital. I wanted to work elsewhere to broaden my skills and my first application was to Brisbane Waters Private (BWPH), and I successfully secured the job. I love working at BWPH because of the team work, the supportive staff and a very supportive management staff. I find the Executive staff readily accessible to discuss anything. The Central Coast Clinic offers holistic care which is fabulous.

Hobbies/Interests

Sewing, textile designing and meditation
