Dr Gazi Hussain is a Specialist Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who has trained at the highest level both in Australia and overseas. Dr Hussain is currently the Vice President of the National Council of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), having been appointed as the NSW representative since 2014. Prior to this he was the President of the NSW Chapter.
Qualifications and Training:
Dr Hussain graduated from the University of NSW with an MBBS in 1989, and shortly thereafter undertook training in Surgery. This culminated in being awarded a Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in 1999. Following his admission Dr Hussain took up a Fellowship position in Toronto, Canada training at the prestigious Toronto General Hospital and Sick Children’s Hospital with two of the world’s leading facial paralysis surgeons. This Fellowship included advanced training in Cosmetic Surgery and Microsurgery.
Dr Hussain is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a Member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Australian Medical Association.
Private Practice:
Dr Gazi Hussain has been in private practice since 2001. He has developed a reputation for success in various forms of Cosmetic Surgery. He also has a particular interest in facial rejuvenation surgery including Facelift, Browlift, Rhinoplasty, Otoplasty,and Eyelid Surgery, as well as Breast Reduction, Breast Lift and Abdominoplasty.
Dr Hussain established the Coastal Plastic Surgery & Medi Spa Facility in 2014 to provide surgical and non-surgical cosmetic treatments.
Publications and Lectures:
As one of Australia’s leading experts on Facial Reanimation Surgery, Dr Hussain has published papers and presented at international meetings. Among other publications, Dr Hussain has co-authored chapters in two of the leading Plastic Surgery reference textbooks, used by Plastic Surgery trainees and surgeons worldwide.

Teaching Positions and Appointments:
From 2013 to 2015 Dr Hussain was the Supervisor of Training at Macquarie University Hospital. From 2002 to 2015 he was appointed a member of the NSW Selection Committee of the Board of Plastic Surgery Training, overseeing the selection and training of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons in NSW. Concurrently, from 2002 to 2013, Dr Hussain was the Supervisor of Plastic Surgery Training at Concord Hospital, one of Sydney’s leading teaching hospitals. Between 2003 and 2009 Dr Hussain was Head of the Plastic Surgery Unit at Gosford District Hospital.
His passion for ensuring the exacting standards of Plastic Surgeons in Australia remains high and led him in 2010 to the appointment of Clinical Senior Lecturer in Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery at the Macquarie University Hospital, where overseas and Australian trained Plastic Surgeons undertake further training and study under his supervision.
In 2015 Dr Hussain was appointed to the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse as a consultant Plastic Surgeon
