After advanced training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, Dr Fiatarone spent 2 years as a Senior Research Fellow in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, and was awarded a British Research Foundation Fellowship, gaining experience in liver diseases, therapeutic endoscopy and clinical research in alcohol metabolism.

Dr Fiatarone has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist on the Central Coast since 1991 and was appointed to Gosford and Wyong Hospitals in 1992. Dr Fiatarone was the first Gastroenterologist appointed to Wyong Hospital, setting up both the Endoscopy Unit and Gastroenterology services to the facility. Dr Fiatarone also helped design the Gosford Private Hospital Endoscopy Centre, which is a dedicated gastrointestinal endoscopy facility, established in 2018.

Dr Fiatarone has maintained a passion for gastroenterology and the delivery of high quality clinical and endoscopic services to the Central Coast community. Dr Fiatarone continues to strive for excellence and quality of healthcare and maintains a very active role in teaching and professional development.
