Dr Christopher Wellard is a General Adult Psychiatrist. He completed his medical training at University of Sydney. From there, he developed an interest in Psychiatry whilst working as a country doctor in rural and remote Queensland. He moved to Newcastle to complete his Fellowship through the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatry.

Dr Wellard has worked extensively in the public sector in various psychiatric settings including James Fletcher Hospital and Mater Psychiatric Unit, and Private Hospitals and Private outpatient services as well. He has experience in acute inpatient settings, psychiatric emergency, community, homeless outreach, indigenous & general hospital psychiatry.

Dr Wellard offers comprehensive psychiatric assessment and management, focusing not only on the biological factors contributing to mental illness, but also on the underlying psychological aspects which are often significant and need addressing.

Dr Wellard is pleased to accept referrals immediately.
